Three ordinary girls in ordinary, private situations await us in Slottsparken. The description is the artist’s own, and the women who take shape as sculptures challenge our preconceptions of what should be shown and take place in public spaces. The women seem relaxed, in comfy house clothes like sweatpants and pyjamas. They do not at all represent advertising’s beauty ideal.

Hanna Stansvik highlights the common and everyday in both our contemporary society and during the time when women were relegated to the home. She creates a sharp contrast to the sculptures that have portrayed women for millennia as beautified and mythical. Here, ordinary women are given space, with piercing stares and poise.
