Robolito / Adriano Bohra, 1981, Brazil

Photo: Sofie Isaksson

Playful subjects in bright colours attract both children and adults to Robolito’s gigantic sculpture at Teaterplan. Robolito is actually the name that the artist gives his main characters – figures that move unconstrained in the forcefield between Japanese comics, science fiction, street art, and graffiti. There is much joy and recognition here, particularly from the young people’s worlds of comics, games, film, and toys. A broad universe opens up, with layers upon layers of shapes, colours and patterns. In the midst of this light-hearted joy are details that deeply concern our identity – who I am and what I want to be associated with.

Robolito was chosen for OpenArt by the children’s panel.
